Transportation

Safe, reliable transportation is a key part of helping our students arrive ready to learn each day. Our goal is to keep every ride to and from school safe, smooth, and efficient for all Ada families.

The diagram to the left shows the locations and transportation procedures for common transportation methods.

Transportation information must be entered into FinalForms at the beginning of each academic year. In an effort to make our bus routes more efficient, we request parents/guardians request transportation for their student(s). You must complete the form each school year in order for your student to be placed on a route. A request for busing to/from an address other than home is NOT guaranteed. Please keep in mind that if your child lives in a designated walk area this form will not override busing eligibility.

Transportation Changes
All transportation changes should be sent in writing to the office or teacher in the morning. Please be sure to include your child’s name and teacher’s name on your note. If we do not have a note stating otherwise, students will be put on their regular method home. Changes must be received by 2:00 pm.

Parent Pick Ups/Drop Offs
When dropping off or picking up your student, please pull forward as far as possible in the line, drop off or pick up your student and exit. This keeps traffic flowing quickly and safely. Please use caution and drive slowly to ensure the safety of students.  Parking lot monitors are there to assist. Please follow their directions.

Riding the bus is a “privilege” not a right. Children who misbehave jeopardize the safety of others. This is why there is little tolerance for misbehavior on the bus. Unlike the classroom, it is not a place where you can “work through” certain behaviors.

The PRIVILEGE of riding a bus depends upon following these basic rules of good courtesy and good behavior.

Transportation Rules

  • Load and unload from the bus at the designated stop in an orderly manner. Students must go to the designated place of safety.

  • Ride only the regularly assigned bus and unload at the regular stop.

  • No littering. No eating or drinking any beverages on the bus.

  • There will be absolute quiet at railroad crossings and other places of danger as specified by the driver.

  • Noise on the bus should be kept at a minimum. Similar behavior is expected on a bus and in the classroom.

  • Pupils must not throw anything.

  • Pupils must not hang any object or part of their body outside the bus.

  • Any child who insists on misbehaving shall be denied the privilege of riding the bus by the proper authority upon notification of the parents.

  • Cross the street at least ten feet in front of the bus and upon the signal of the driver.

  • Pupils are NOT to transport animals on the school bus.

  • Pupils should go promptly to the bus when dismissed from school. When discharged from the bus they should go directly to their designated place of safety until the bus is safely on its way.

  • Positively NO SMOKING allowed on the bus.

  • Pupils must sit in their assigned seats.

  • Obscene or profane language and fighting are prohibited.

  • No aerosol cans or flammable liquids on the bus. (hairspray, cologne, paint, etc.)

  • No material over 10 pounds or 2’x3’ will be transported on the bus during a regular route.
