This week was Pet Adoption Day for our Kindergarten–2nd grade students!
Mrs. Allison’s beloved summer reading tradition kicked off today as students adopted their very own reading pets, promised to read and write 20 times in their journals, and proudly repeated the official promise to care for, read to, and love their new pet companions.
Our students look forward to this special day each year, and Mrs. Allison welcomes them with the warmth, positivity, and energy that only she can share. These newly adopted pets will serve as fun reminders for our young readers to keep reading throughout the summer, encourage their love of learning, and inspire them to reach their goal of completing 20 journal pages for a special prize when they return to school in August!
Parents and families, thank you for encouraging summer reading and learning at home. Please join us in thanking Mrs. Allison for pouring so much love, creativity, and magic into this wonderful program and into the lives of our students each and every day!

As we plan ahead for transportation next school year, here’s a quick reminder regarding Ada Schools busing policy.
Per Ada Schools Board policy, students in Kindergarten through 6th grade who live within the village limits remain eligible for school bus transportation. Beginning in 7th grade, students living within the village limits are no longer eligible for bus service. The southern boundary of the transportation area is Lima Avenue—students who live on Lima Avenue will still receive transportation.
We know changes like this can take a little adjusting. Here are a few options families may want to consider:
- Parent drop-off: Use the cafeteria doors via the south drive. Staff will be on hand to help keep arrival safe and smooth.
- Carpooling: Team up with other families to share rides and lighten the load.
- Walking or biking: If it works for your child, sidewalks and bike safety (helmets encouraged!) help make this a great option.
For complete transportation details and guidance, please visit the Ada Schools website under "Our District", "Transportation".
Thank you for helping us keep student safety and communication strong!

Their hard work and dedication to reading were celebrated with a special ice cream party and a certificate of accomplishment. We are so proud to see our first graders develop a love for reading that will continue to help them grow and succeed as they move on to 2nd grade!
Keep up the great work, readers!

Students learned ASL signs related to cooking, researched recipes, watched professional Deaf chefs in action, and—best of all—got to enjoy some delicious treats along the way.
With support from the Academic Boosters, students also took part in an “Escape Cooking Prep Room” experience before putting their skills to the test.To wrap up the project, each student created a cookbook full of easy, dorm-friendly recipes they can take with them into the next chapter of their lives! Featured recipes included Omelettes in a Mug, Black Forest Cake, Cookie/Cake in a Mug, Mug-o-Pizza, and Chicken & Cheese Quesadillas.
Congratulations to our seniors on a job well done—both in and out of the kitchen!

It was wonderful to see students building connections, learning from one another, and enjoying music together!

This is certainly a well-deserved honor, and we are incredibly grateful for everything Dr. Devier does for our students, staff, and district each day. His dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence make a positive impact throughout our school community.
Dr. Devier is now a finalist at the state level, where four overall winners will be selected later this year. He will also be recognized at the OASSA Fall Conference in October.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Devier on this outstanding achievement!

We are grateful for the strong partnership we share with the United Way of Hardin County and proud of the students, staff, and community members who make achievements like this possible every day. Together, we are building a stronger future for our students and our community.
In preparation for his visit, Mrs. Dysert shared many of Mr. Ebbeler’s books during library time, while Mrs. Winkeljohn worked with students to create incredible artwork to help welcome him to Ada. Students in grades K-5 participated in three interactive sessions where they had the opportunity to hear from and engage with Mr. Ebbeler.
During the sessions, Mr. Ebbeler read one of his books, explained his illustration process, and guided students through a step-by-step drawing lesson. He also took time to answer questions and genuinely connect with our students, making the experience both educational and memorable for our young Bulldogs.
A special thank you to Mrs. Smith for organizing this wonderful opportunity and to Mr. Ebbeler for sharing his talents, creativity, and story with our students!

Students entering Kindergarten through 2nd grade for the 2026-27 school year will participate in Flag Football for $35. Students entering 3rd through 6th grade will participate in Tackle Football for $55.

This is Ada FFA’s most talked-about event of the school year, and it did not disappoint! More than 30 Ada FFA members worked together to create hands-on learning experiences for approximately 350 elementary students.
Students rotated through five exciting stations featuring:
Parts of tractors
Relay races
A petting zoo
Wheat Bracelets
Honey bee education
Rabbits
It was a fantastic day filled with education, teamwork, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Thank you to our Ada FFA members for making this special event possible for our elementary students!
A special thank you to the United Way of Hardin County and the many community leaders and organizations who make this incredible opportunity possible for our students.
Congratulations to our Ada sophomores: Kyla Coleman, Elijah Craig, Bryce Purdy, and Ashley Williams.

2025 Ada alumna, Bella Klingler, a founding member of the Sustainability Club, helped plant the vision of creating positive environmental change for the future. The club dreamed of improving the world around them and creating something lasting right here on school grounds. Like any seed, the idea needed care, support, and people willing to help it grow.
With guidance from mentors and advisors, the vision of a Pollinator Garden on Ada Schools property began to take shape. When the Hardin County Pheasants Forever, a local Habitat Organization, learned about the project, they eagerly joined in to help bring the dream to life. This spring, we are finally seeing the results of years of planning, collaboration, and dedication. Second graders explored plant life cycles, sixth graders dug deeper into learning about plants, and Mrs. Lochard’s high school Ag students shared their tools, knowledge, and leadership with younger Bulldogs.
Thanks to the support, funding, and hands-on help from local Pheasants Forever volunteers Jim Ulrey and Tom Kier, along with Farm Bill Biologist Celeste LaFleur, the first seeds were sown into the prepared soil last week. Seeds were sprinkled, plugs were planted, and meaningful learning was happening every step of the way. What began as a simple Sustainability Club idea has now blossomed into a future habitat for pollinators, plants, and wildlife — a space that will continue giving back to Mother Nature for years to come.
Thank you to everyone who made this project possible, who took time to work alongside our students, lead by example, and care enough to help improve our small patch of earth. Together, we are growing something truly special.

At Ada Schools, we are incredibly fortunate to have dedicated and caring teachers and staff who go above and beyond for our students every single day. Last week was all about celebrating them and showing how much they are appreciated!
From thoughtful gifts, including a much-needed umbrella for those rainy May days, to delicious food, fun activities, and plenty of smiles, our school community came together to share gratitude. Our principals and administrative assistants did an amazing job organizing a wonderful breakfast, snack bar, refreshment station, and even a “Make Your Own T-Shirt” station!
A special thank you to our Sunshine Committee for bringing in a coffee truck to keep everyone energized and bright-eyed despite the gloomy weather. Thank you as well to Elite DTF Transfers and Sportswear for donating the t-shirt graphics and helping our staff add more Bulldog spirit to their wardrobes.
THANK YOU to all Ada Schools staff members for the difference you make every day!
